ARSENIC LULLABY Kickstarter ending soon

          In my last blog regarding the ARSENIC LULLABY The Devil's Only Friend Kickstarter I emphasized that it only took $10 to back this project and get a book (where most of the Kickstarter projects make you ante up $25 for a 24 page floppy). I thought everyone reading this blog and two of their friends should get in at this level. I've changed my mind on this.
          I still think you and two of your friends should back this project, but go the little extra and get in at the $15 level.  You're asking yourself why I changed my stance on this. What difference does it make which cover you get and why pay the $5 more for the "exclusive" cover. Well, here's my reasoning. WHEN the kickstarter hits $13,000 stretch goal (just $1433 away, as of this writing) everyone that passed on that one hackneyed comic from the 'big two' and went for the $15 pledge is going to get a HARDCOVER book. Those that only pledge at the $10 level so they could keep their run of "Banal-Man" complete will only get the softcover (but equally enjoyable on the inside).
          With a little under 2 days left we only need 95 backers at the $15 level to get a nice hardcover edition to sit on the shelf. Doesn't your bookshelf deserve that after all it's done for you?
          In my last blog i also brought up the READING RAINBOW kickstarter (no link provided, find it for yourself). I find it very curious that Seth MacFarlane backed that kickstarter but has steered well clear of the ARSENIC LULLABY project. You have to ask yourself why a man so revered as a comedic icon won't go near ARSENIC LULLABY. My guess is he is intimidated.

ARSENIC LULLABY The Devil's Only Friend KICKSTARTER

  The READING RAINBOW KICKSTARTER PROJECT is great and all. But what are you gonna put in front of your nose once you get all of your phonics organized in your brain?  The choice should be obvious, ARSENIC LULLABY's The Devil's Only Friend KICKSTARTER. 

  When it comes to ARSENIC LULLABY I think most folks fall in to one of three categories. The first category are those that have been following the work of Douglas Paszkiewicz for some stretch during his 12+ years as a comic book professional. During those years you know that Douglas has been publishing his own comics, his way, and been a regular at any comic convention worth attending. It comes as no surprise to you that he has been nominated for several industry awards, including the Eisner and Harvey. You’re also aware of his 6 years working for MAD Magazine and his recent writing contribution to Comedy Central’s TRIP TANK. You are also probably one of the 251 backers (as of this writing) that have already pushed the current Kickstarter project well beyond it’s goal and helped the FIRST ARSENIC LULLABY KICKSTARTER get double it’s goal. 

  The second group has heard about all of the above, but is still on the fence about jumping on the A.L. bandwagon. Any one element of the above should tell you this is a book you need to have on your shelf. But it obviously isn’t, since you’re still on the fence. Let me put it this way, if you read comics there is absolutely NO REASON NOT to back this project.  For $10 ( thats a trip to a fast food restaurant or your local cafe or two banal comics from “the big two”, YMMV) you can back this project and get a PHYSICAL copy of the comic.  I’ve seen a lot of kickstarter project where you don’t start to get anything until you pledge $25+ for a 24 page COMIC BOOK!  Douglas does it right. $10 gets you a comic delivered to your door. No tax, no shipping and handling add ons. Go to your local comic shop and see how far $10 will get you.  Not to mention, as of this writing (251 backers at $9724) EVERYONE that has pledged $5 or more is getting 3 trading cards, a parking pass and drink coaster. And the more people you and I get to join the more stuff we get. That $10 is taking you a LONG WAY now, isn’t it? Do me a favor, when you go to your LCS and put all of that stuff on the counter and hand the owner $10 to pay, make a video so I can see him laugh in your face. What’s READING RAINBOW going to give you for $10? a tweet and wallpaper for your computer (probably in the wrong ratio)

The third group are those that know Douglas and DON’T like him. This is the group that should be pledging the most! Why is that? Because with every pledge we get that much closer to the next stretch goal. Why is this important? Each stretch goal we reach is another project Douglas has to do, another headache he has to contend with, more money out of his pocket. Your pledge may very well be the one that makes him say, “I AM NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN!” That is something you should be proud of.

So, there you have it. EVERYONE should be making a pledge soon. If you don’t get in now you’re gonna end up paying $14.95, plus tax and shipping to someone smarter than you. You don’t want to do that, do you?

100 SOULS kickstarter ends SUNDAY

Hello Art Fans!

This is the last weekend to make a pledge to the "100 SOULS project, an art book from Steven Russell Black." We have been fortunate enough to have reached our funding goal, so this book will be going to the printers!

Just because we have reached our funding goal does not mean the opportunity to back this project is closed out. In fact, now that we know we are going to print this is the best time to make a pledge on a project you know is going to be realized.

Before starting this project we did a lot of research to ensure that the rewards we offered were comparable for the pledge amount asked for. And even after we launched we continued to see what others are offering. We may be biased (in fact, we are!), but we think a signed/numbered limited edition hardback book for just $25 shipped (within the U.S.) is one of the best bargains on the entire KICKSTARTER site. Our only rival being a $45 signed/numbered/sketched limited edition hardback book. We would also like to emphasize these prices are lower KICKSTARTER incentive prices and will be increased (plus shipping) once the unclaimed books get listed on NSNart.

As of this writing, there are only two slots remaining to get a painted ASCENDED SOULS through the project. So, what are you waiting for!

I know not everyone reads the updates, so we would like to highlight three items from there that you may have missed;

1) We are giving away a PAINTED SKETCH CARD to the highest pledge of the day. So, with this project ending tomorrow, only two more painted sketch cards will be given away. And in case of a tie, the earliest pledge gets the painted sketch card.

2) If any backer leaves us a comment saying they heard about this project from a friend/colleague, we will give that person a free sketch card when we mail out their book.

3) Mr. Bob Bretall, has already taken us up on the offer and has earned himself a free card. Bob has in fact offered to send $5 to anyone that backs the project at the $25 level or higher( http://www.comicbookpage.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1672&start=30 ). So, that $25 pledge will actually only cost you $20, for a hardcover collection of the 100 SOULS project. THAT is indeed a deal! Thanks for your support, Bob!
